For centuries, incarcerated people have been locked away and kept out of sight, slowly to be forgotten by their respective societies. Now, the buildings that once imprisoned them are being forgotten, too.

Prison populations are often rehoused as city resources and dynamics shift. In many cases, the gutted prison buildings stay where they are, left to slip into the jaws of decay.
